Our CEO, Rami Cassis, recently talked to CNBC about growing investor sentiment against the US, arguing that Europe may finally be a proper destination for capital.
Rami described the shift in investor sentiment as having ‘become quite emotive’, going beyond a purely rational reallocation. Investors were reacting to policy conduct as much as to its content.
His central point was that nobody wants to invest in an environment where the government might change its mind overnight. Unpredictability, rather than any single tariff, is what ultimately deters capital.
Ever-changing tariff policy, a dollar selloff and a sharp rise in Treasury yields have combined to unsettle what was once the default safe haven. The wider ‘Sell America’ narrative gathered pace as a result.
He told CNBC that Europe, for the first time in a long time, ‘might be a proper destination’ for investment. European equities had already gained ground on the back of falling inflation and a historic shift in German fiscal policy.
