Our CEO, Rami Cassis, spoke to PE Hub about the sale of Parseq to Paragon Group and what the deal says about where value sits in outsourcing.
Parabellum acquired Parseq in 2007 as a corporate disposal with a 15-person team and exited it as one of South Yorkshire’s largest employers with over 300 staff. The business built out five offices across the UK, Bulgaria and India over that period.
The business deliberately narrowed to back-office and payments operations, selling the contact centre arm in 2018. The combined group had reached £65m in turnover in the late 2010s before that restructuring.
That focused unit grew from £11m to £25m in revenue over three years. Concentrating on fewer, higher-value services proved more durable than chasing scale.
Rami’s thesis is that specialised, compliance-heavy data work is the moat, the parts of outsourcing AI cannot easily absorb. Parseq’s client list includes BT, EE and HSBC, all of whom hold exacting data standards.
